2010 Safety in Schools Week

 'Love Life...but Stay Safe'

14th to 18th June 2010

The 2010 Safety in Schools Week Online Resource Kit contains health and safety activities from 20 Western Australian health promotion agencies and will be available for download soon.

Look out for details being sent to your school in May 2010!

Why Safety is Schools Week and injury prevention are important:

Each year, more children in Australia die from INJURY than from cancer, asthma and infectious diseases combined.

Safety in Schools Week can help reduce the incidence of injury through education. It encourages schools to address safety in a holistic manner using the Health Promoting Schools Framework and activities linked to the Curriculum Framework.
The 2010 Calendar, Promotional Poster and Information Kit will be sent out to all primary and district high schools throughout Western Australia in the lead up to Safety in Schools Week. The information kit contains important information on Safety in Schools Week 2010, as well as information on accessing activities from 19 Western Australian Health Promotion agencies. Copies of these activities and resources can be downloaded from the links below.

Before you receive your 2010 ‘Safety in Schools Week’ Information Kit you could:

  • Inform all staff about Safety in Schools Week so class time can be allocated for the program
  • Inform the school administration and the P&C or P&F about Safety in Schools Week
  • Seek support from the local community to help run safety activities during the Safety in Schools Week
  • Contact Kidsafe WA, any of the 2010 participating agencies or your local Health Promotion Officer for information on child injury prevention and suggested activities
